Master Degree Program

Congratulations, Graduates!

CLASP International partnered with the University of Zambia (UNZA) in Lusaka, Zambia and created an intensive two-year Master of Education program in Speech, Language, and Communication Disorders. The program was under the Department of Special Education, Psychology, and Sociology in the School of Education at UNZA.

18 students attended classes regularly, completed required coursework, and participated in practicum opportunities provided by CLASP International. The students received hands-on training from certified speech language pathologists (SLP) from the United States. These volunteer SLPs traveled to Zambia to teach the students in various schools and clinics throughout Lusaka. The information garnered from these experiences were invaluable to the students’ learning.

On December 7, 2015, all 18 students graduated with their masters degree and are considered the first local specialists in Speech, Language, and Communication Disorders in Zambia. They will continue their work in the school systems in Zambia as well as begin private work to help children with disabilities communicate their wants, needs, and feelings.
